Permits & Regulations
Requires a Special Restricted Area Permit (RAP) costing USD 500 for the first 10 days, plus ACAP permit. Individual trekkers are not allowed; minimum group size is two.
Altitude Safety
Elevation peaks at 3,840m (Lo Manthang). The terrain is windy and dry, meaning dehydration is common. Drink at least 4L of water daily.
Essential Gear
Windproof outerwear, high SPF sunscreen, polarized dust glasses, lip balm, and good walking gaiters for sandy trails.
Access & Logistics
Requires flying from Pokhara to Jomsom, followed by a local 4WD jeep transport or trekking into the forbidden border region.
